Joe The Coupon Guy gives a class at The News-Herald

Community Media Lab blogger Joe The Coupon Guy presented a class to about 75 attendees at The News-Herald last night.

I, myself, enjoyed hearing some of his money-saving tips, and the program really made me consider how I'm spending my money and what I'm spending my money on.

One tidbit from Joe that I took away from the program: "One hour of couponing could save you $100."

Check out Joe's upcoming class schedule as well as his page on links and deals to learn some money-saving tips from someone who has spent 11 cents on toothpaste and saved more than 100 percent on one shopping trip.

Holiday cookie exchange at The News-Herald

Last night was The News-Herald's holiday cookie exchange. We invited readers to bake and bring 3 dozen cookies and copies of their recipe to share with others.

Thanks to everyone who attended and shared the goodies! I know I'll be saving some of these recipes.

We have some leftover copies of the recipes that will be filed in the Community Media Lab, so you are welcome to stop by and pick up instructions for making Chocolate M&M's Cookies, Crispy Cinnamon Coins, Nut Butter Balls, Toasted Oatmeal Cookies, Chocolate Crinkles, Cranberry Pistachio Slices, and Buckeyes.

After the ribbon-cutting, the space will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Are you on foursquare? Be sure to check in to The News-Herald Community Media Lab when you visit. You may be able to claim a goodie.

I blogged yesterday about the different social networks The News-Herald is a member of, including foursquare. I mentioned The News-Herald Community Media Lab was now a venue on foursquare, and we just got the window cling to prove it:

The News-Herald is on Instagram, foursquare

The News-Herald's latest foray into social media networking is with Instagram and foursquare. We're still new at these networks, so we're working on the best way to utilize our Instagramming and checking in.

In the meantime, be sure to follow us on Instagram:

... and become our friend on foursquare.

We've also created a new foursquare destination: The News-Herald Community Media Lab. When you come into our office to use our media lab and archive, be sure to check in, and feel free to add photos. We will eventually be adding some goodies for those who check in frequently, so stay tuned.

Other social networks The News-Herald is on:

We have several staff Twitter accounts and a few Facebook pages, so be sure to also check out:
