2007: The three area teams in action all lose — Riverside boys basketball in the Division I Euclid District final, Regina girls basketball in a Division III regional final and University hockey in a state semifinal.

1996: Three N-H wrestlers compete for state titles at Wright State but have to settle for second – Euclid 152-pounder Joe Tucceri, Cardinal 189-pounder Josh Seyer and Chardon’s 215-pounder Rick Conroy.

1985: Kim Svendsen scores 17 points and JoAnn Gordon contributes 12 as Kirtland edges Mogadore, 49-46, to improve to 22-1 in a Class A district final at Kent Roosevelt.

Feb. 6, 1994: Perry’s T.J. Huxel, top, is well on his way to a pin over Chris Miller of Grand River during their 103-pound semifinal bout at the East Suburban Conference tournament at Newbury. Huxel won in 3:05.

The old Villa Angela Academy on Nov. 30, 1972 -- the year the school moved into a new building.

Villa Angela merged with St. Joseph High School in 1990.

1974: Lakeland coach Don Delaney and former Geneva coach Al Bailey are in the running but lose out on the Kent State men’s basketball job to San Diego Conquistadors assistant Stan Albeck.

1963: North’s Bob Rettig, John Kettunen and Gary Cavell, who all averaged in double figures during league play, are all named to the all-Greater Cleveland Conference boys basketball team.

1952: Fred Thomas nets 17 points to pace three players in double figures, but Fairport has no answer for 6-foot-4 center Bill Yoho, who scores 26 points in North Lima’s 56-49 win in District B action at Kent.

1941: John Dowling scores 11 points – the lone player to reach figures – to lead Harvey past Parma, 46-36, in the Class A tournament at Euclid Shore.

1930: The Indians move four points clear in the International Hockey League standings, as goaltender Alfie Moore impresses in overtime to salvage a 3-3 tie with the Detroit Olympics.

2006: Raychel Berardinelli scores 18 of her 21 points before halftime and Ali Tobias nets 19 of her 21 after halftime in Riverside’s 67-56 Division I district semifinal win over Chardon.

1995: Ryan Noble scores 13 points and Hank Hughes falls just short of a double-double with eight points and 12 rebounds as Kenston defeats Crestwood, 69-51, in a Division II sectional semifinal at Solon.
